Rachel Mathison.

After graduating from Salford School of Podiatry in 1994, I worked in the NHS, developing a strong clinical interest in diabetes management.and tissue viability.
In 1999, I moved from Rochdale Primary Healthcare Trust where I gained valuable experience working in the community and also in a research role for the published ‘North West Diabetes Foot Care Study’, to work within secondary care for Stockport NHS Trust as a Clinical Specialist in ‘high-risk’ patient management.

I qualified in 1990 from the Northern College of Chiropody and was fortunate to have in my cohort such luminaries as Martin Fox and Louise Morris and was lectured to by Louise Stuart (some things never change!).
Most of my work around diabetes has been carried out in Salford. I started work here in 1995 as a Senior 1 in high-risk liaison that involved developing care pathways and integrated working across the hospital and community trusts.

I have worked as a podiatrist for the NHS for 27 years and specifically in the field of diabetes for the last 20 years.
At present I am employed by a Primary care PCT and I am seconded to run the Diabetic Foot Clinic at the Oxford Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism in Secondary Care, but also help plan Primary Care at a county level.

I lead a small team of Podiatrists who manage diabetic foot pathologies in both Diabetes and Vascular Surgery. I qualified from the Glasgow School of Chiropody in 1980 and worked for two years as a Senior 11 Podiatrist in primary care in the Belfast area.

I qualified in 1980 from Glasgow School of Podiatry and have worked in diabetes foot-care for the last sixteen years.
In my current position in Hairmyres Hospital I work solely in Diabetes concentrating on the treatment of the high risk and ulcerated foot running a very busy multidisciplinary foot clinic.

I’m the lead diabetes specialist podiatrist for Ayrshire & Arran where I have worked for the past 17 years. I’m based in secondary care but have many years experience working in community. I’m clinical lead for a team of podiatrists responsible for the delivery of our podiatry diabetes care programme.
