Scottish Executive Appoints 'Diabetes Foot Tsar'

Duncan Stang has been appointed National Diabetes Foot co-ordinator for Scotland after the Scottish Diabetes Group recently approved a funding proposal to appoint someone to look closely at Diabetic Foot Services accross Scotland.
Duncan, Chief Podiatrist at Hairmyers Hospital, was a driving force in setting up the Scottish Diabetes Specialist Podiatrists group.
His work in promoting diabetic footcare is well known in the UK and he recently played a major part in merging this group with PDUK to
become 'Foot In Diabetes UK' for whom he is now the Scottish representative.
Among other things Duncan will look at the foot screening process and will visit the existing diabetic MDT foot clinics in Scotland to look
for examples of best practice and centres of exellence which can then be emulated around Scotland.
The task will be a challenging one but Duncan, who is a passionate advocate for the diabetic foot nationally and internationally,
is the man for the job and we wish him every success.
